About Wendell

Wendell Rupert Alinea was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia on August 2007. He survived three cycles of intensive chemotherapy and achieved complete remission right after. He has also completed 2 years of maintenance therapy and remained in remission for 3 1/2 years. Unfortunately, he suffered a relapse February of this year.

This former university instructor, writer, music performer and pharmaceutical sales representative is a loyal family man. His passion for photography started when a dear friend gave him a brand new DSLR camera while he was undergoing maintenance treatment a year and a half ago. Due to lack of any photography background, he was uncertain if he had the eye for it.
Wendell enrolled in a three-hour basic photography course to learn how to use the camera properly, with the simple purpose of having the ability to take decent pictures of his family. However, his passion for photography grew more each day as he discovered a unique eye of seeing things through the camera’s lens. He began taking pictures of anything and anyone that caught his fancy. Then he joined several photo contests and received recognition in some of them.

During his 3 ½ years of cancer remission, he spent most of his time with his family as he found a way to work at home as a freelance writer. Just recently, he also began doing photography gigs and some of his photos were published in print and online media.

Because of his cancer relapse, he’s now undergoing treatment at the Makati Medical Center. Once again, with God by his side, he continues to fight to be able to teach, write, perform music, shoot photos and be with his family, friends and loved ones for a long, long time.
